Nothing is worse then your web site being down while you are getting a flood of new visitors. Call it the slashdot effect, the Digg effect, or just plain old popularity it's all the same: you're down while people want to see your content.
Local web specialists Mick Thompson and Chris Kenworthy will discuss web hosting from the basics up to more advanced techniques to make sure your site is always available. They will also include a look into how cloud computing can be used enhance and/or host your whole site.

About the Presenters
Mick Thompson
Mick has done both web development and system administration for the past 6 years; he's most interested in working on large scale web services. Mick is currently employed by Collecta.com, which searches the web in real-time.
With an interest in both developing frontend code as well as setting up infrastructure, Mick's skill set ranges from coding Javascript, PHP, Python to setting up and administering web servers (physical and on the cloud).
Mick is also the driving force behind the wildly successful Ignite New Mexico.
Chris Kenworthy
Chris is the owner of MediaGroup1 LLC and founder of DreamInCode.net, a leading online community for programmers and web developers.
Chris has been involved in the development and marketing of web sites and online communities for over eight years. He holds a degree in Web Technology and is a certified Google AdWords professional. He is currently the Marketing Manager for Escalate Media which owns several large online communities in the Tech and Women's niches.
Chris is experienced in the areas of search engine marketing, search engine optimization, social media, community management, email marketing, monetization, and affiliate marketing. He is available as a consultant on a limited basis.
